Colegio Santa María – Marianistas is a school in the villageof Alboraya, nextto Valencia. It has 60 teaching staff and 700 students in the 3-16 age range: 150 in Pre-school, 310 in Primary, and 240 in Secondary. The school has organized several student exchanges and visits with foreign partners and is recognized as a Cambridge exam preparation school, using materials and methodology that help students in order to undertake Cambridge Exams. These relations with foreign schools have been highly motivating for learning both English and German as well as forfostering cultural awareness, mutual understanding and tolerance to the otherness in our students, and have been very enriching for teachers who have had the possibility of getting to know different education systems.
Santa María – Marianistas has been involved in several Erasmus programs and we are very much motivated to develop activities and relationships with our partners within the ELMO project on Environmental Learning. There is a high implication of the teaching staff of the school, and we have the commitment to make our students become digitally competent and also competent European citizens. That is why our school is characterized by the continuous training and learning of the staff in different educational contexts and fields of knowledge: ICT, methodological approaches, CLIL, assessment, cooperativework, multiple intelligences. The introduction of all those methodological approaches is also part of our process of reflection of how to implement the digital devices in education, and we would very much like to share our experience and ideas, as well as getting new points of view from the rest of partners with regard to environmental settings.
